Windley Key Fossil Reef
State Geological Site
Location: Mile Marker 84.5 Bayside

Windley Quarry Entrance

    The Windley Key Fossil Reef State Geologic Site is one of only two State geologic sites in Florida.  It was purchased in 1985 through Florida's Conservation and Recreation Land (CARL) Program.

    Visitors to the site can see the remains of early 20th century quarries cut through the 125,000 year old fossil reef.  There are also several walking trails through the native forest hammocks and a visitor center with displays showing the history & geology of the area.
